Times Like These

Last night, I lived a true musical moment.
I've always loved the Foo Fighters and wanted to see them live but never got the chance to. I also never thought I'll be able to see them somewhere else than in an arena or a festival.
Well, I heard about them doing few secret shows around LA, and yesterday after checking Twitter, I realized they were playing the Roxy, a small venue on Sunset Blvd. I didn't think twice, got up from my nap, got ready in 2min, drove like a crazy person and ran for my life to the line who was already pretty packed. I stood there for a while, met few people and when they starting giving away the tickets the line was insane.
It kinda felt like Charlie and The Chocolate Factory when I got my golden wristband, #156 out of 200, I got pretty close to not making it.

After a beer and a meal at The Rainbow, I went back in line (seriously...), doors opened shortly after and find myself being 2nd row. Wooh!
I was so excited by the time they got on stage and I couldn't believe this was finally happening. I've seen a lot of shows and there are few artists I'll go crazy for and Foo Fighters were definitely on my list. I mean, it's quite a trip to see Dave Grohl for the first time. When you look at him, you think about Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Queens Of The Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures and all the side projects he was been involved with. That's nuts!
They starting by playing their not yet released new album from start to finish, (best idea ever), and their new songs are rad! Heavy, beautiful, great lyrics and quite some Josh Homme's influence on the guitars which is totally fine with me. They recorded it the old way, without any computer or protools, and that's what it sounds like on stage as well, raw and honest.

some new songs:

Then, they played, and played, and played more, all their hits, old and newer songs for a total of 2 and a half hours set. The crowd was singing at the top of their lungs, smiling, we all knew this was epic, a sort of once in a lifetime experience and we for sure lived the lyrics of Everlong "And I wonder/When I sing along with you/If everything could ever feel this real forever".

Thinking about "real", while I was watching them rocking our faces off, I thought about all the crap we listen to all day long thru the TV and radio, people don't even know/care if the "artists" are really singing, if they can play any instrument... Watching the FF, it feels good and reassuring to see some true talented artists, who breath and sweat what they play and are amazing at it. They literally blew my mind last night.

When I woke up on Monday, I had no idea I was going to see one of my favorite band and the best show ever! Unexpected days are the best!

White Light White Heat

Fun week cuz:

-I started doing background last week and I love it! I already worked on CSI, Mad Love, 90210,
an upcoming movie with Chris Pine (yeah he's yummy), Desperate Housewives... It's long hours but I'm having a blast doing it, I meet lots of peeps and learn a lot on just watching a set.
-They pay fast and I already got a few checks from it :)
-I loved going to my friend Jessika's hometown, meeting her mom, going to see a movie and discovering her house, where she lives.
-It was also fun going out with her that same night and my other dear friend Jessica
(yeah, my 2 besties in LA have the name, trying to make it easy)
-My friend Katie finally had her baby!!! Carson was born 01/27 and is adorable. I'm so happy for them and to be an auntie!

(is he not the cutest seriously?)

-I loved wandering in Barnes&Nobles for 2 hours, I don't see time passing when I'm around books!
-It's great when a 2hours fitting turns into a 4hours one...$$
- I loved going on a hike with Jess, beautiful scenery and a crazy workout who kicked my ass
-It was great reconnecting with my friend Amandine who is in France, I miss her lots!
-Loved planning for my bday, can't wait for tomorrow; even if getting older isn't that cool.
-I LOVE the LA weather right now, 80.F and blue sky everyday!

Not fun:
-Coachella sold out in a week. Because of d-bags who are now selling their tickets for $800 to $2000 on Craigslist and Ebay. SO pissed.
-Ryan Gosling didn't get nominated for an Oscar. If you were already in love with him and thought Blue Valentine was incredible, you should be pissed too!

I'm obsessed with those leggings!

2.0.1.1

1st post of 2011, finally! I've to admit, it took me a while to recover from the new year celebrations... I had a lot of fun with my new LA friends but now it's time to focus on what this year has to offer. For some reason, I'm super enthusiastic with 2011, it HAS TO BE a great year! It's not like 2010 was bad at all, I got my driver's licence, a car, I moved to the 2nd biggest city of USA, worked, met new people... but I've a strong feeling this year is gonna be gwweaat!!! As long as I believe in it I guess..!
I've haven't had that many new year's resolutions than this year and I'm really gonna try to stick to it. I feel letting those everyday to do things sit out on my blog, and knowing some people will read them will put the pressure on and force me to accomplish them.

SO! This year, not in particular order, I will:

Keep my room and apartment clean
Read more
Learn Spanish
Work out often (anyone has P90x..?)
Talk to my long distance friends & family more often
Find an acting studio
Blog more
WORK WORK WORK
Go to France. And see more of the world.
Discover LA
Save money to get a new car
Smoke less
Drink more water
Be more reliable
Wear heels more often
Do some volunteer work
Try to improve my american accent
Learn Spanish
Start going to bed earlier/waking up earlier
Make music
Go to Coachella
Meet new people
Be impulsive, take risks
Take some kite surf lessons
Get a Disneyland year pass
